The experience
At Thonga Trails we offer you an authentic Zululand experience with 4 nights accommodation, cold beers & all meals included at 4 different stop-overs as we explore in-depth the 80km of Maputaland coastline.
On routes only familiar to us locals, we take you through the fresh water Kosi lake system, we walk down pristine & undeveloped coastline and up through the unique sand forest before the last day's sea safari drops you back at Sodwana Bay.

We strive to straddle high end value added tourism with the grounded rural communities, and endeavour to meet your every need. We believe the canvas of Maputaland will not let you down, so we look to take care of your hospitality needs, comfy bedding, all your drinks & fine cuisine by our in house chef who makes practically everything from scratch!
By supporting this trail you support the local economy, all the money stays within the communities providing valuable financial relief not accessible by other means in rural SA.
We work in partnership with various entities to up-skill members of the communities. From catering, hospitality and guides we endeavour to use members of the local communities, some of whom we've known for decades, for an authentic ground up experience. This is the V.I.P. Zululand trail.
